Feels good

A beautiful sunny snowy 18 F day. :)

The snow that fell was really wet and then had freezing rain and sleet
on top of it and its been in the 20's since then so the snow is like
bricks.

wonderful discoveries

i'm sitting at work bored out of my mind and feeling homesick for ann arbor, michigan only because it's a great place and you can get such good yummy things there so easily and so close together. unlike this pile of shit where i live now, the south, where mediocre is about all you can hope for.

so amidst my boredom i thought 'OH! why don't i google some of my favorite places?!', and, i did.

Cafe Zola
cafe zola is apparently still going strong, i'm very happy to see. :) it isn't clear if they are still a coffeeshop during the day or if they've transitioned fully to a restaurant. when i lived in ann arbor they started out as a coffeeshop and served savory and sweet crepes and then started doing brunch and then had dinner during the evenings. it was actually really great to be able to go to the same place for lots of different food needs and always know you'd be able to get different flavors each time and it would be consistently good.

Sweetwater Cafe
O M G. how many hours did Jeff and I spend at sweetwater talking and stuffing our faces with something yummy? aahhh, such good memories. i really love this place. it's location and seating inside is wonderful. i also had my first chicory au lait here, so extra special bonus points for sweetwater cafe! :)

sweetwater cafe and cafe zola are actually on the same street and more than once i'd spend a few hours at sweetwater and then amble over to zola for dinner. :)

HA! this pretty much sums up every day for me

hence why i want to kill.

Ah, the south...

I hate you so much. This is what virginia thinks roads should look like
during morning rush hour. Still covered with snow and sleet, no
scraping or salt has happened. Wtf?

Granted this is nothing for a michigander but the retards that live in
the south (yes, sadly I am temporarily one of them) have no idea that
the white stuff isn't acid or a vampire.

when ipods attack!

New York may ban iPods while crossing street

sad to say, but i've done this before, twice. i, of course, disagree with Senator Kruger's quotes. it certainly isn't a 'major public safety crisis'. it's just people being careless because they haven't fully adapted to their new devices. so, it's analagous to people driving questionably when they've just learned how to drive. eventually with repetition they get better at it.

i bet i can imagine exactly how this happens though. blame the blind.
with the sonic alerts at cross walks now you don't have to look up to know when to cross. well, you do if you want to know which way is free to cross but with just the sound you know you can cross somewhere. so if you've been standing there a few seconds and then you hear the sound, you would think to walk. of course, you should first think to look up to see if the light is orange or white, but that's probably where the little disconnect is happening.
so, blame the blind.

actually they could probably still use the sonic alerts if they used directional sound technology, this would make it so that only people directly in front of the cross walk area would hear the alert. if you weren't in that exact area then you would have to look up.

or, people could just see a few pedestrians get run down and then be more careful themselves. whichever.

it's called a sense of irony

ok, the snickers superbowl ad has been pulled and people are getting all offended by it.

come the hell on.

it's totally taking the piss out of homophobes, it's not homophobic itself. no one sees the irony in 2 guys touching lips and then inflicting pain on themselves in order to 'do something manly'?

i think instead we should encourage heteros to inflict pain on themselves, then just sit back and laugh and laugh and laugh.

Other half of shopping

Beer, dozen donuts (why is the box pink?), sandwich meat, cheese, choco
chips, and cooked chicken breasts.
Butt no TP! Wtf am I thinking?

While you figure that out, I'm gonna munch on some'a those queerass
donut rings!

British store going

So I decided to take beer (new castle) and british crisps to the house
warming of some guys down the street. While there I also got some
pickle and mcvities. Yum.
