Around 1pm Saturday I got out for awhile to read and had a chocolate croissant and coffee at Le Pain Quotidien in Clarendon. Plenty of ppl filling the store when I arrived, very nice.

March 27 Bethesda Metro Train Derailment
Well yesterdays commute home from Bethesda sucked. I got into the Bethesda Metro station at 5pm and it was full of firemen but they said trains were still running so I waited. After 40 minutes they evacuated the station and didn't have any shuttles set up for passengers to get to other Metro stations so they could get home.
I whipped out the G1 and IM'd with Brian to hear they were posting a 2.5hr delay. With that in mind I decided to walk to Friendship Heights station and stopped to take a couple pictures of this stream along the way. I finally got home at 7:20pm.

Harrys Tap Room for brunch
Went to Harrys Tap Room for brunch with Brian. We both got the Bananas Foster French Toast, it was delicious. Neither of us could finish because there was so much food. Definitely recommend a visit.

Lost in Melvin C. Hazen Park
Brian and I were going to see Watchmen yesterday at 1pm, but when we got to the theatre they had changed the time to 3:20pm. We decided to take a walk through the park and it was a bit more 'natural' than I'd anticipated. It was a pretty walk at least and we covered ground fast enough.

Le Pain Quotidien at 2900 Clarendon Blvd, Arlington, VA
I took the day off work to go see 'Watchmen' with Brian today at the Uptown and decided to try the newly opened Le Pain Quotidien in Clarendon. First of all, it cracks me up that its right under Golds Gym. I would have thought a pointless store like a GNC would have taken that spot, thank goodness they didn't.
I stopped in at 9am, sat down, and ordered a 4 shot macchiato and almond cheese danish. The calories are listed right on the menu and that was actually helpful and informative, nice touch.
The macchiato came in a small bowl and was very tasty. The espresso wasn't as delicious as Murky Coffees but it was far above serviceable.
The pastry was fresh and flaky and wasn't overly sweet or cheesy. It tasted well balanced and I got buttery saltiness with the mild sweetness.
The atmosphere was nice between 9-10am on Friday, pleasant amount of echoed chatter and the music was well in the background.
The prices are about 30% over what I'd be comfortable paying but the flavors are good and if its as good on return trips then I'd be comfortable paying for what I'd perceive as quality. My bill came to $9.74 for the danish and 4 shot macchiato.

Finally our destination, American University
We finally reached American University and were very tired. We walked around the campus a little and headed to a starbucks on New Mexico Ave so I could grab some electricity. After we were done relaxing we decided to walk to the Tenleytown Metro and get home instead of walking several more miles back to civilization.
All told we walked 8 miles across Washington DC.

We stopped to take pictures of this fountain. It just seems to be there for no obvious reason.
Walk through the zoo
Brian and I decided to go on a long walk today and started with the zoo. All the animals seemed to be in lazy calm moods and the turtles were very photogenic.
